A major security breach at Drift Protocol has reignited concerns over vulnerabilities in decentralized finance (DeFi), after a sophisticated attack resulted in losses of approximately Rs. 2,375 crore. The exploit, executed through social engineering and manipulation of platform governance controls, allowed unauthorized access to critical administrative functions. By introducing a fraudulent digital asset and altering withdrawal mechanisms, the attacker extracted substantial funds.
