Women out of workplace lose confidence: Thomas Cook CEO says

Thomas Cook CEO Harriet Green, who recently won the Veuve Cliquot Business Woman of the Year Award for transforming the troubled travel operator, said that new mothers should cut the amount of maternity leave they take as remaining out of work for a long period of time result in loss of confidence in the workplace.

Thomas Cook to cut 2,500 UK jobs

Travel firm Thomas Cook has announced its decision to close its 195 high street travel agencies and cut 2,500 jobs in the UK.

The planned closures and job cuts are a part of the 172-year-old travel firm's restructuring plan, which aims to turn its distressed British business around.

Thomas Cook, the world's oldest travel firm, also said that most of the cuts would affect positions in the back-office and within the firm's retail network.

77% of Winter Collection Sold by Tour Operator Thomas Cook

Tour operator, Thomas Cook Group claimed 77% of its UK winter 2009/10 stock has been sold and the selling price has been pushed up to 2% in the last four weeks. Thomas Cook is Poorest in Quality

Thomas Cook, a big name in travel industry is at bottom three out of 29 companies in a poll of 4,500 holidaymakers. Can you believe it? But it is a truth. Britain’s second-largest tour operator is the poorest in giving quality service as resort reps and the quality of flights and transfers.

The survey of 4,500 Consumers’ Association members criticizes Thomas Cook’s “poor quality hotel rooms and unhelpful resort staff”. The tour operator got only two stars out of five for value-for- money.
