Sony has declared that the PS3 will now be able to playback Blu-ray 3D movies after its final release in September.

Sony has promised that it would update its PS3 in this summer, so it can be said that Sony is making every effort to meet the deadline, as summer ends on September 22.

An interview with Sony’s Mike Hocking on CVG, has provided all this information. At present, Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs is the only Blu-ray 3D movie available. He said that with the launch of Sony 3D TV, the upgrade of Play Station3 is also in the lineup.

Panasonic or Samsung proffer special pack-in offers of movies with their 3D TV to their Consumers.

Whenever the update by Sony takes place, the other Blu-ray Disc players, also known as ‘3D ready’, will receive a 3D firmware update as well. The exact date of PS3 update has not been announced by the company as yet.

The upgrade of PS3 will make it HDMI 1.4 compatible. HDMI 1.4 is the standard of 3D displays.

This upgrade will allow a user to connect the PS3 with 3DTV via HDMI cable. After this connection, the PS3 will automatically identify the connection of 3D Display.
