Research In Motion Ltd., the company behind Blackberry smartphones, has now planned to give a tough competition to its rivals by introducing a new touchscreen mobile phone with a slider.
RIM is the world’s leading smartphone manufacturer but with the passage of time, other companies such as Apple, HTC have gained momentum. Blackberry has been left behind in this race.
With the Apple’s iPhone and iPad, the market for RIM is slowly declining. Apple is using Android-operating system to attract customers. Moreover, with its new iPhone 4, Apple will shortly gain the lead position, according to sources.
So, the new smartphone to be launched by RIM will have more applications and the phone will be more user-friendly, as compared to its previous touchscreen smartphone, Blackberry Storm.
A RIM spokeswoman said,” They will ship a phone running a new operating system and a new Web browser in the quarter ending Sept. 30, but haven't provided details of the device. They haven't discussed plans for a tablet”.
It will run on BlackBerry OS 6.0 operating system. Users can also set a position of the apps which they use regularly in this new smartphone.
Users can enjoy working on the screen by using their finger or they can also make use of the QWERTY keyboard provided in it. It will be Wi-Fi enabled and will have a five megapixels camera.
