Sony Ericsson to release Xperia X10 Android update in Q4 of 2010

Electronics giant Sony Ericsson has announced that its Xperia X10, X10 Mini and X10 Mini Pro smartphones would be upgraded from Android 1.6 to version 2.1 during the final three months of 2010.

The forthcoming update will allow the Xperia X10 to link to other consumer electronics devices via DLNA. It will also be able to record HD video at 720p.

Sony Ericsson’s own additions to Android viz. Timescape and Mediascape, which organize Facebook updates, Twitter posts, SMS messages etc., will also be improved.

Prior to the major upgrade, the X10 family will receive a smaller software update in the coming couple of weeks. It will improve the usability as well as performance on the X10.

Users will be able to download the update from the Sony Ericsson’s website.

The Xperia X10 has already hit store shelves, while the X10 Mini and Mini Pro will be made available for purchase soon.
