Auckland Transition Agency to apply for “veneer” of integration

Reports suggest that the Auckland Transition Agency has plans to apply a “veneer” of integration, while keeping most of the current council systems as they are for the launch of the Supercity.

The Auckland Transition Agency has been tasked to deliver the new Auckland Council, which will take charge of the city on November 1 this year.

The reports are based on documents received under the Local Government Official Information Act.

This could be good news for the ICT workers, but the plan could depress those who are hoping for large cost savings from the consolidation of the ITC operations.

Speaking on the topic, Waitakere City’s group manager for information John Johnson said, “These are key systems for the new council to manage and integrate with the existing councils’ systems with effect from the operational date of 1 November 2010.”

Mr. Johnson further said that key systems should be under veneer by July 1 to allow training on the new technology.
