Microsoft NZ appoints new NTO
National Technology Officer

Microsoft New Zealand has appointed Dr. Mark Rees as its new National Technology Officer.

Dr. Mark Rees has replaced Brett Roberts who decided to step down after the company shifted the position from Auckland to Wellington.

Dr. Mark Rees’ biggest challenge will be to align long-term NTO objectives and activities with company’s shorter-term initiatives and aims.

Microsoft’s new NTO will also have to engage with government in an efficient way to deliver value for the company.

Speaking on the topic, Dr. Mark Rees said, “I am based in Wellington and it is easier for me to engage with government, to participate in the various forums and interact with decision makers.”

Dr. Rees further added that changing some old perceptions of Microsoft would be one of his priorities.

Before joining Microsoft, Dr. Rees served Wellington-based Datacom as Lead Architect.
