21.7 Billion Pounds Worth of Boost to UK Economy Expected by Heathrow's Third Ru

Official figures shared by the British Chambers of Commerce have revealed that a third runway at the Heathrow Airport could end up giving the UK economy a boost of an estimated 21.7 Billion Pounds.

The BCC also stressed that this is the single largest benefit from the 13 important transportation projects that would bring a substantial boost to the economy, which could be a total of 85 Billion Pounds.

The business group stressed that spending on important UK infrastructure projects should not be cut in anyway, despite the fact that public finances are tight at the moment. Firms across UK, believe that the investment is "essential to the future success and growth of regional economies", BCC said.

"Transport infrastructure cuts must not become a politically convenient way to slash spending after an election, especially when there are huge savings to be made in far larger budgets, including health, education and welfare. Cutting or scrapping plans for regional transport improvements means fewer jobs, and ultimately fewer businesses driving recovery", said David Frost, the Director General of BCC.
