iOS Devices aim to match with the Nintendo Gaming Market

The iPhone and the iPod Touch devices seemingly appear to catch up with Nintendo and its DS console range when it is the matter of playing games on the go.

Reports of Newzoo states that a number of players who are of 10 years and above, in six nations and people aged in age group of 41m vs 40.1m play games on the iOS platform or on Nintendo DS with the latter constituting of a higher percentage in gaming.

It was stated that 18 million gamers play on the Sony PSP, compared to nearly a quarter of the 77 million Americans who play games on devices such as mobiles and other portable devices.

The US is considered to be a region where Nintendo is in a vulnerable condition. The competition from Apple is hard to digest which has spread across five nations which are based in Europe.

Peter Warman, Managing Director at NewZoo, explained: "The simultaneous rise of direct downloads, social gaming, free-to-play MMOs and Apple devices all driven by digital distribution and spending small amounts of money at a time are accelerating the shift towards connected devices and platforms."
